We’re looking for a Frontend Engineering Manager to help us tackle challenging engineering problems in an evolving industry. The ideal candidate blends a passion for well-structured, scalable design with the leadership spirit to guide and mentor their team. You're driven by creative problem-solving and relish collaborating with brilliant minds to shape and execute technical vision. Expect to dedicate your expertise to approximately 40% to people management, 40% to process / project management, and 20% to stay hand-on with coding and reviews. Partnering closely with the VP of Product & Engineering, you'll be the right-hand person for the frontend team, turning departmental vision into reality. Leading a team of 8-10 engineers, you'll conduct performance reviews, foster career development, and translate business challenges into effective technical solutions.
If this sounds like just the role you've been hoping for, please apply and tell us more about yourself!

  • People Leadership and Team Development: Hire / recruit, lead, and mentor a high-performing engineering team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability. Through 1:1s and constructive feedback, provide guidance, coaching, and support to help team members reach their full potential.
  • Technical Strategy: Collaborate with senior leadership to define and execute the company's technical roadmap. Develop and implement strategies that align with our business goals, ensuring that our engineering efforts drive innovation and excellence.
  • Project Delivery & Resource Management: Oversee the planning, execution, and successful delivery of complex engineering projects. Monitor project progress, identify and mitigate risks, and ensure that milestones are met on time.
  • Technology Stack and Architecture: Help drive the selection of appropriate technologies, tools, and architectural decisions. Ensure that our software systems are scalable, reliable, and maintainable.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with product management, design, and other cross-functional teams to prioritize and deliver feature-rich, user-centric products. Foster strong relationships to ensure alignment between engineering and other departments.
  • Continuous Improvement: Champion best practices, quality standards, and process improvements within the engineering organization. Identify areas for optimization and drive initiatives to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

  • At least 2+ years of experience directly managing a mid-sized team of engineers
  • 6+ years of experience in frontend software development with the React ecosystem
  • Experience growing high performing software development teams focused on outcomes versus just outputs
  • Experience with long-term development, enhancement and maintenance of a SaaS application/platform
  • Skilled in guiding technology and architecture choices with a focus on delivering business value
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • A passion for development and solving problems, and a desire to be actively involved in writing code
  • Ideas about everything, the resolve to convey your point clearly, and the graciousness to listen to alternate ideas and choose the best option. You’re constantly thinking “how can we do this better?”
  • Experience maintaining Jira and project managing the lifecycle of a feature / epic
  • Data-driven decision making and experience guiding a team in selecting and achieving realistic-yet-challenging OKRs
  • A passion for growing and supporting your team through 1:1 meetings, mentorship and coaching, and working on career progression plans
  • Ability to think about the big-picture roadmap and technical vision of the product, and integrate those plans into near-term sprint planning and project architecture
  • Confidence in running standups, sprint planning, backlog grooming, and retrospective meetings that align with the company roadmap while balancing maintenance and the needs of the team
  • Knowledge of DevOps & Infrastructure (AWS) is nice to have
  • Must have start-up experience; big company experience okay in combination, but not exclusively.

  • Total Compensation: Competitive base compensation + Stock Options
  • Time-Off: 2-weeks vacation  + 3-summer days + your birthday is a holiday (seriously! log-off and hang out with the fam or go do something fun) + opportunities to meet your co-workers in person throughout the year
  • Tools: Top of the line hardware and the best collaboration software for remote work so you can be as productive as possible while working from home
  • The Best Coworkers Ever: If you ask anyone who has worked at EventMobi, they will tell you that their fellow Mobiers are the best part of their experience! Don't underestimate the positive impact of caring co-workers have on your everyday happiness.

  • You have a safe, comfortable, and ergonomic workspace and working environment - a private and quiet workspace is vital for doing your best work!
  • You have a reliable internet connection capable of participating in video calls, with at least 30 Mbps download speed
