Our assessments help hiring managers identify the best talent by giving every candidate a chance to show what they can do. The cybersecurity industry is growing, and companies need to build better, more diverse teams faster. They can no longer rely on outdated screening processes and metrics like certifications to find the best talent. At Enigma, we believe that what you can do is more important than your background, and our platform gives every candidate the chance to demonstrate their skills.

And screening is just the start. Using our assessment data, we are building The Enigma Community -- the most comprehensive database of cyber talent. Ultimately, we aim to become the source of truth for professionals to showcase their skills (think: LinkedIn for cybersecurity).

We have a budget for continued learning and growth for every employee. There’s no list of “pre-approved” courses or communities — tell us what you’re interested in and we’ll make it work!

Asynchronous Communication
Fewer meetings, fewer emails. We use Slack internally to leave your inbox (mostly) free for external communication. Instant communication is great, but can also be counter-productive. It interrupts your flow and adds stress to your day. Not responding to that Slack right away allows you time to think about a question or problem more thoroughly. Not constantly checking your emails allows more opportunity for flow state and higher productivity.

We default to async communication over meetings. When a meeting is needed to collaborate or brainstorm, we keep them to 25min or 50min. Need to jump on a quick call to hash something out? Use the phone and take a walk around the neighborhood to get some movement in during the day.

Real-Time Feedback
We can’t fix what we don’t know is cracked — we just want to know before it’s broken! Constant, constructive feedback is encouraged throughout the organization, not just top down. Give your colleague, manager, or leadership actionable feedback if there’s something that needs improvement. Just remember to practice empathy, patience, and respect.

We also regularly collect your thoughts on leadership, products, processes, and employee culture.

Fully Remote
We’re a fully remote company which gives you the ability to choose where you work — with company-provided equipment (laptop, monitor, etc.) and tools to succeed. We are US-based and prefer you overlap a few hours with North American timezones for most of the year.

Flexible Work Hours
We won’t monitor when you work as long as you get your work done. There will always be exceptions for meetings, retreats, and the occasional urgent call but we'll keep those to a minimum.

You choose when to work based on when you feel most focused and we won’t expect a response outside of those hours. We’re not saving lives, so chances are that after-hours message can wait.

Flexible PTO
Take time when you need it, for any reason. To ensure everyone takes advantage of this, we require employees to take a minimum of 10 days a year, plus your birthday, federal holidays, and the ‘office’ closes Dec 24 - Jan 1 every year.

Oh, did we mention, we’re working towards a four-day work week (see below)!

Four-Day Work Week
Recent studies have shown that a four-day work week increases productivity and reduces stress. How awesome is that?! We’re currently in growth mode and haven’t figured out the best way to implement this while hitting our targets and increasing our customer base. But we’re working on it, and we’ll be asking employees for their thoughts and ideas on how to seamlessly accomplish this.

In the meantime, we’re currently experimenting by taking one Friday a month off.
